OUR INSTRUCTORS

Jukoshin Kanji
We are committed to delivering the highest quality of martial arts to all members of the Kingston community. We will ensure that you feel welcome in a safe environment geared towards learning and professional instruction.

Our head instructor, Jamie Rickard is a 8th Dan in jiu-jitsu with over 25 years of martial arts experience in jiu-jitsu, kenjutsu, karate, MMA, grappling and holds the title of Shihan, Chief instructor for Canada. Shihan Jamie was awarded the World Elite Black Belt Society (W.E.B.B.S.) Martial Artist of the Year for 2018.

Our assistant instructors are certified 5th degree black belts with the title of Renshi (expert instructors) and have over 13 years of experience in jiu-jitsu, karate and grappling.

Shihan Jamie Rickard

Shihan Jamie Rickard has been studying martial arts since 1998.

He holds a Shichidan (seventh degree) black belt and the title of Shihan, Chief Instructor for Canada in Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu and is a member of the Executive Council as well as the Technical Committee. He also has many years of study in kenjutsu and karate.

Shihan Jamie has also attended many international seminars including seven WEBBS World Congresses and has been an instructor at six of the congresses.

Shihan Jamie was also awarded WEBBS 2018 Martial Artist of the Year at the WEBBS World Congress 2018 in Loughbrough England.

Sensei Gregg Wade
Renshi Gregg Wade has been studying martial arts since 2008.

He holds Godan (fifth degree) black belt in Jukoshin Ryu jiu-jitsu, and a Godan (Fifth degree) black belt in Meibukan Goju Ryu karate.

Gregg has also attended many international seminars including seven WEBBS World Congresses and has been an instructor at four of the congresses.

Sensei Zach Yuen

Renshi Zach Yuen has been studying martial arts from a very young age and has been training with us since 2009.

He holds Godan (fifth degree) black belt in Jukoshin Ryu jiu-jitsu, and a Sandan (third degree) black belt in Meibukan Goju Ryu karate.

Zach has also attended many international seminars including four WEBBS World Congresses and has been an instructor at two of the congresses.

Sensei Mike Doornbos

Sensei Michael Doornbos has studied many martial arts over the years, including kenjutsu, jiu-jitsu and aikido.

Sensei Mike is passionate about the learning and teaching of kenjutsu and is the primary instructor for our kenjutsu program.
